It reads your retailer currency, then reads sales and their payments in bounded pages and continues from its saved checkpoint. A larger history may take several scheduled runs to reach full coverage; until then the evidence remains partial. It is not a live, to-the-second feed.

Sales and payments, stated plainly
Moonmoot reads your retailer currency and the sale and payment fields it needs to work out gross takings, refunds and net revenue. Nothing about the people or the products.
Sale date and state
When a sale happened and whether it is completed, voided or unfinished. Only completed sales count as revenue; voided and unfinished sales are never treated as captured takings.
Sale total
The total value of a completed sale, used as the captured amount once its payments reconcile to that total.
Payment amounts
The amounts recorded against a sale, read as evidence that the sale reconciles. Individual card or payment-type details are not read or kept.
Return to original sale
A return is a separate sale that references the sale it reverses. Moonmoot uses that link to net refunds against the original, so revenue is captured, partially refunded or fully refunded correctly.
Retailer currency
Your account currency, so figures are shown in the right currency. If the currency is one Moonmoot does not support, the till figure is withheld rather than shown wrong.
Coverage and freshness
How complete and how recent the last scan was, so the board can say whether the picture is current and full, or only partial, and stay honest about it.
To be precise: this integration reads sale date, state and total, payment amounts, the return-to-original-sale link and the retailer currency. It stores the netted figures, not the receipt, and it never calls a write endpoint in Lightspeed.
Refunds netted against the sale they reverse
In Lightspeed a return is not a negative line hidden inside a sale, it is a separate sale that references the original. Moonmoot follows that reference and nets the refund against the sale it reverses, so the original is recorded as captured, partially refunded or fully refunded rather than left overstated.
That is why the board can show gross takings, the refunds that came off, and the net captured takings after returns, and why a refunded sale is netted once rather than counted twice. A completed sale is only treated as captured when its recorded payments reconcile to the sale total; if they do not, it is not presented as clean revenue.
More than one till, and no single headline
Some businesses take payments through more than one source. When Lightspeed overlaps another payment source, Moonmoot does not add them together into one takings figure. Without an explicit rule saying which source is the authority for a given sale, adding them could double-count the same money.
So Moonmoot withholds the combined headline and shows each source on its own until a source-authority rule is defined for that business. It never silently sums overlapping sources to make the number look tidy.
Stale, partial or unreconciled evidence stays honest
Freshness and coverage are explicit, not assumed. Moonmoot syncs Lightspeed periodically, not in real time, and it records how recent and how complete the last scan was. If the data is stale, the scan only covered part of the period, the payments do not reconcile, or the currency is unsupported, the till figure is marked partial or unavailable.
The board then says what it can prove and stays cautious where it cannot, rather than dressing a partial picture up as a clean total. Keeping the sync current is Moonmoot’s job, not yours.
Read-only, anonymous, and never the receipt or the person
It never writes to Lightspeed. Moonmoot only reads; it never creates, edits, voids or deletes a sale, payment or anything else in your store. Signing in uses Lightspeed’s standard OAuth, which authenticates the read connection and changes nothing in your data.
It never reads your customers. No customer name, contact detail or identity is read or stored, so till payments reach the board with no person attached.
It never reads your staff. No employee profiles, names or user records are read from Lightspeed.
It never reads the receipt contents. Product line items, the individual products sold, and sale notes are not read or stored.
It never reads payment-type details or card data. It reads that a sale was paid and by how much, not the card, the payment method breakdown, or any cardholder data.
It never treats a voided or unfinished sale as revenue, and it never silently adds Lightspeed to another payment source to manufacture a single total.
Your sales data, on your terms
Disconnect anytime. Remove the Lightspeed connection in your settings. This deletes Moonmoot’s stored Lightspeed connection and stops future reads.
Disconnect Lightspeed before deleting your business. This removes Moonmoot’s stored Lightspeed connection. Your remaining Moonmoot data can then follow the normal 30-day deletion process: a short grace period, then permanent removal (GDPR right to erasure).
Anonymous, and used only for you. Access tokens are encrypted at rest, and the till evidence Moonmoot keeps carries no customer, staff or card data. To produce your board’s analysis, relevant business context (which can include your netted takings figures) may be sent to our AI provider; under its commercial terms it is not used to train the provider’s models, and Moonmoot never uses your data for advertising. Which Lightspeed product does Moonmoot support?
Lightspeed Retail (X-Series), the retail point-of-sale formerly known as Vend. It does not support Lightspeed Restaurant or Retail R-Series. If you run a different Lightspeed product, this integration is not the right fit.
What data does Moonmoot read from Lightspeed?
Only your retailer currency and, for each sale, its date, its state, its total, the payment amounts recorded against it, and the link from a return to its original sale. From those it works out gross takings, refunds and net revenue. It reads nothing else.
Is the Lightspeed connection read-only?
Yes. The OAuth scopes are all read scopes: sales:read, retailer:read, payment_types:read and payments:read. Moonmoot only reads; it issues no request that changes your store data, and it never creates, edits, voids or deletes anything in Lightspeed.
How are refunds and returns handled?
In Lightspeed a return is a separate sale that references the original sale. Moonmoot follows that link and nets the refund against the original, so the sale is recorded as captured, partially refunded or fully refunded. A refunded sale is netted, not counted twice.
What happens if I take payments through more than one source?
